My software

Every now and then, when I need it for some project, I write software, usually for Web applications or for Linux system administration. Here I collect the software that I managed to package and distribute; use it at your own risk - I don't have time neither to help users, nor to write better documentation than the one you find in these pages.

The applications in these pages, unless differently specified, are distributed under free software modalities: you are free to examine and modify this software, as long as you make available to everyone your edits. If you further develop these applications, please keep me informed so that we can avoid duplication of work.

Recent software

Most of my recent software still needs to be packaged - sorry about that.

CleanOSXFiles (version 1.0, 1/1/2010)
CleanOSXFiles is a simple Perl script that will allow you to remove the annoying extra files created by Mac OS X's Finder, such as .DS_Store and ._filename.

NFBRead (version 1.0, 21/7/2008)
NFBRead is a simple Perl script that will allow you to extract information such as the phonebook and messages archive from NFB files - the files used by Nokia's PC Suite software to back up mobile phones.

MySQLShell (version 1.0, 17/2/2007)
MySQLShell is a PHP-based Web implementation of the control shell of the MySQL database engine, so that you can manage MySQL via a shell even if you only have Web access to the server.

Perlzones (version 1.0, 18/6/2000)
Perlzones allows you to embed Perl commands and expressions inside DNS zone files, and manage multiple domains in batch.

Gimg (version 1.2, 13/5/2000)
Image sucker for Web sites, with advanced features to approach even the most complex websites.

Ancient software

This software was developed between 1995 and 1998, when I was a University student and a webmaster as a hobby, in an age when there was no PHP, no MySQL and no free content management systems. As technologies change, possibly this software is useless if not for study.

Note: The software here below is distributed under the GNU General Public License version 2, even if you find other indications in the packages - I didn't have time to fix them all.

TWMK (Templates WebMagick) (version 1.2)
TWMK is a Perl-based Web image archive creator, with visual and text indexing.

The Form Processor (version 1.22, 19/11/1998)
A processor of Web forms - it allows to send the user-entered information by email, or to store it in a file, following a customizable format.

VBCount (version 2.4, 8/4/1997)
A flexible website access counter.

VB CGI-C Libraries (version 2.11, 1/12/1998)
C-language libraries to manage CGI applications and Web forms.

Newsstat (version 2.05, 4/12/1998)
This software generates a broad set of statistics on Usenet newsgroup traffic. It was once used for the it.* Usenet hierarchy.

Anoncookies (Apache 1.x module) (version 1.11, 26/10/1998)
A module for Apache 1.x, that allows you to limit the number of concurrent accesses to specific directories of your website, similarly to anonymous FTP.

Dir-It (Apache 1.x module) (version 1.03, 10/7/1997)
Modules for Apache 1.2 allowing you to create Italian language indexes of site directories.

VBAccent (version 2.0, 7/6/1995)
This DOS command line utility converts accented letters between the DOS, Windows, HTML and vowel+apostroph formats.

PWCrypt (version 1.0, 16/11/1997)
Converts a cleartext password into its Unix enciphered equivalent, to manually edit passwd files.

MVA (version 1.0.42, 14/7/1998)
Queue network analyzer that uses both analythical methods and simulation.
