Near a tree

E’ tutto il giorno che, dopo averla sentita sulle solite frequenze di Radio Flash, ho in testa questa canzone degli Strokes. Per chi non li conosce, si tratta dei leader indiscussi del nuovo rock elettrico della East Coast americana, fatto di chitarre elettriche come un temporale, suono a bassa fedeltà, e ritmi iperveloci ed ossessivi, sconfinanti nel punk (sì, ci sono anche i testi, ma quelli, a parte l’essere mediamente dark, non sono il fattore più importante).

I due dischi precedenti avevano almeno un singolo tagliente per uno, di quelli che ti entrano in testa con un riff o una melodia e non ne escono per un po’ (Reptilia è ancora uno dei miei pezzi preferiti). Questo ultimo disco (First Impressions Of Earth) spara tre gran pezzi in apertura uno dietro l’altro; se vi piace il rock elettrico, provatelo. Oppure venite sabato 15 luglio alla Pellerina, dove gli Strokes aggratis saranno il piatto forte del Traffic di quest’anno.
